Don’t you love Pinterest? I sure do! All those beautiful pictures, inspirational quotes, delicious recipes and lots and lots of information about DIY projects, homemaking and parenting – anything, really.
I’ve had an account on Pinterest for some years now, but since I’ve launched my blog, I started to use this social media more intensively.
It’s a great place for inspiration, and also a proven way to promote blog posts, especially if you target women between, let’s say, 25—50 years old. Which I do, obviously, being a mom of young children and blogging about family life 😉 (Sorry if you’re not exactly my target audience. You are still very welcome here!!)
Turn ideas into actions
But well, all these pictures… I keep pinning and pinning and pinning. Because that table centerpiece looks amazing… Wow, this article seems interesting! I have to try to bake that cake someday… And I really want to make that homemade play dough – together with my kids. Wouldn’t that be fun?
It would – if I actually did it. The thing is, I often forget what I pinned. And what’s the point of pinning something if you don’t try it – not even read it? What’s the use of having boards full of beautiful and useful ideas without implementing them in real life?
So, I decided to challenge myself:
Every week I am going to pick (at least) one of my pins and I actually do it.
I turn a Pinterest idea into action.
Bless the others
Now, of course I can try to imitate that cute outfit, read a good novel, or fix my hair like a pro. There are millions of pins about that – and that’s great!
But I realized that’s not what I truly want. You see, the intention of this blog is to inspire myself and others to be like the morning sun, to spread light and warmth around me – to intentionally bless others.
So, this is my idea: I want to pick a pin that will bless my home, family and/or friends.
Inspiring ideas from Pinterest
I could, for example, fix one of these delicious meals. I’m sometimes stuck in a rut regarding dinner ideas, and this would be an opportunity to try out new recipes and make a tasteful, healthy meal for my loved ones!
Or I could implement a homemaking system that actually works. It’s a blessing for my family when our home is clean, tidy and cozy!
And there are hundreds of thousands ideas about fun things to do with kids this summer. Which one would mine really appreciate?
Making a wreath or something else to give away to a friend can also be a great way to bless someone.
As you can see, there are lots of ways to bless others, and Pinterest can be used as a great source of inspiration!
The intention counts
Of course, it’s the intention that counts. I sometimes try new things and it doesn’t turn out the way I had in mind. This week I decided to give this recipe a try, because the sweet potatoes were for sale in the supermarket:
Well, it wasn’t a great success. Actually, no one really loved it – including me. We often eat broccoli, but the taste of sweet potatoes turned out not to be our thing. At least I know now I can scrap that vegetable off my list with side dish options, haha!
I won’t let that discourage me. Some things will work, and others won’t – perhaps I plan to do something fun outside and then it starts to rain, or the children fight all the time. It happens.
The thing is: I want to always have this mindset to be a blessing, and since the summer break is around the corner, I welcome all ideas to really work towards having a great time together!
